The REI-DEI Coffee Hour is a collaborative space where DEI professionals and interested individuals come together to explore DEI-related topics. Participants brainstorm and workshop DEI-related projects and barriers to success. Together, members of the NLADA community created a space where we learn and stretch our understandings of complicated topics with nuance and compassion.

About REI DEI Coffee Hour
When the NLADA Racial Equity Institute launched the REI-DEI Coffee Hours, the Institute was meeting a need of the NLADA membership. The REI created a safe, collaborative space for DEI professionals within the NLADA community to share and workshop issues related to DEI work. Using a collaborative model, decided by the REI-DEI Coffee Hour by the REI-DEI Coffee Hour members, sessions are structured with the following:

  • A 15-minute presentation by NLADA REI Director Keri Nash, (ex: Launching and Sustaining DEI Initiatives, Measuring and Evaluating DEI Initiatives, and Building Affinity Groups. )
  • Discussions on various topics like creating effective mission statements, navigating complicated conversations on race and difference, and developing a DEI Strategic Plan and Work Plan.
  • Q&A, it’s an open forum where participants bring whatever questions or projects they would like to discuss and workshop.
  • In addition to the conversation, supplemental materials are shared amongst the group.
